INTRODUCTION TO ADVOCACY

25 June 2021

Preparing our partners to run successful advocacy campaigns, that was the focus of the training workshops held on-line by Solidarité Sida and ITPC-MENA's teams between March and December.

A crucial tool for the improvement of public policies to combat HIV, advocacy is a central pillar of the FORSS Program. In order to prepare our partners to run successful advocacy campaigns, eight training workshops were held online by Solidarité Sida and ITPC-MENA’s advocacy officers between March and December last year.

Initially scheduled for early March 2020 and due to be held in Egypt, these sessions became eight webinars covering many areas, starting with the theory: “Introduction to advocacy”, “Identifying and analysing stakeholders”, “Building and conveying messages” (two sessions) and “The role of the media in advocacy”, and culminating in practical applications. The last two planning sessions were devoted to enabling the advocacy officers of our partner associations to familiarise themselves with the tools and to begin work on building their national advocacy plans, which results from the community-based observatories will feed into at a later date.

These sessions were organised as part of a global training and capacity building strategy for the FORSS project teams.
